Headboard for a Bed of Cardboard: DIY Master Class

For those who are looking for the easiest way to create a headboard, we recommend paying attention to the cardboard as a basic material. Despite the fact that it is thin, such design looks very nice and laconic.

Required materials:

  • sheets of cardboard – 2 pcs .;
  • Double-sided tape;
  • non-woven fabric;
  • spray adhesive;
  • PVA glue;
  • cloth with a pattern;
  • monochromatic cloth;
  • ruler;
  • pencil;
  • stationery knife;
  • round formed container (large bucket or basin).

On the first sheet of cardboard we draw contours of the head of a smaller size. In this case, there are rounded parts. To make them symmetrical and even, we recommend simply circling the container of a round shape.

Cut out the workpiece using scissors or a writing knife. We put it on the second sheet of cardboard. We retreat a few centimeters from each side and draw the contour of the part. Carefully cut out one more workpiece.

As a result, you should get two blanks, as shown in the photo.

We put nonwoven sheet on the work surface, and the cardboard of a larger size on top. Add on several centimeters from each side as allowances, and cut off the rest. We connect the parts with spray adhesive.

By the same principle, we cut a monochromatic fabric and glue it on top of the non-woven fabric.

At the corners, cut the fabric with a lining, as shown in the photo. It is very important to cut so that it does not reach the edge of the cardboard.

Gently we turn the fleece sheet with a cloth and fix them on the cardboard with double-sided tape. Repeat the same thing with the second workpiece. But use a cloth with a pattern for it.

We glue the blanks together and leave them for several hours.

On the inner side of the headboard we attach a double-sided adhesive tape and fix the structure on the wall.

Stylish, but at the same time budgetary headboard for the bed is ready! If desired, you can arrange decorative cushions with a similar print, so that everything looked as harmonious as possible.

We will prepare such materials:

  • sheet of plywood;
  • furniture stapler;
  • batting;
  • nails or furniture buttons;
  • dense fabric;
  • spray-glue;
  • scissors;
  • tape-measure;
  • pencil;
  • ruler;
  • a hammer;
  • a thread;
  • fixings for the wall.

From the plywood sheet, we cut out a rectangle suitable for the size.

On top of it we place several layers of batting, taking into account the allowances on each side.

On the sheet of plywood, we apply glue and fix the first layer of batting. Repeat the same with the others.

Fix batting with a furniture stapler on the back of the workpiece.

Turn the workpiece over. Cut the tissue of the required size. On one side, spray the glue onto the batting and immediately apply a cloth to it. Straighten it to the full so that the surface is even. Repeat the same until the whole fabric is glued.

Leave the workpiece to dry for several hours. Then fix the fabric on the corners of the headboard to the plywood with a furniture stapler.

You can finish at this stage. But we suggest adding laconic decor to the headboard. To do this, make a mark at each corner, as shown in the photo.

Drive a nail, according to the mark and tie a thread around it. Stretch it and tie it around the second one. Do the same on every corner.

Make a marks along the line, where you need to hammer nails or furniture buttons for decor.

We hammer nails or buttons around the perimeter.

In the process of work we need the following:

  • blanks from plywood of the same size;
  • glue;
  • the cloth;
  • sheet of plywood;
  • scissors;
  • synthetic winterizer;
  • furniture stapler.

Based on the size of the plywood blanks, cut the fabric into the same squares, taking into account the allowances for each side.

On the work surface, we lay a piece of fabric and place a sheet of plywood on top.

Connect the parts together with a furniture stapler, but only on one side.

Bend the corner, stretch the fabric and fix it with a stapler.

Fill the workpiece with a synthetic winterizer so that a bulge is formed.

Turn the workpiece and fix the remaining sides of the fabric with a stapler.

Repeat the same for each square of plywood.

On the work surface, we put a sheet of plywood, which will be the backbone of the headboard. Alternately glue all the blanks to it as closely as possible to each other.
