Perhaps one of the most important nuances in interior design is the decorating of windows. This is not surprising, because the curtains help to emphasize the overall interior style. For example, light weightless products create a feeling of comfort and warmth in the room. In turn, roller blinds are more often used in office space. As for roller blinds, they are considered more versatile, as they are ideal for any style and room. In addition, they can be used even at home.
Blinds Made of Scrap Materials
For a start, we note that roller blinds in the classical sense are a cloth fabric, which is mounted on a metal pipe with a lifting mechanism. Thanks to it, the curtain can be rolled up and lifted as high as possible. It is very convenient, especially in everyday life.
But this does not mean that you cannot experiment and create something new and unusual. Therefore, we propose to make an alternative version of roller blinds literally from scrap materials.
This will require the following:
- sewing machine;
- twigs – 2 pcs .;
- fabric for ribbons;
We measure the size of the window and on this basis we make a pattern for the curtain. There must be allowances on each side. 2-3 cm is enough from both sides, and from above and below you will need to have extra 10 cm for weighting.
On each side, we twist the fabric twice and sew it on a sewing machine. It is very important to do this as smoothly as possible so that the curtain looks attractive.
Now we proceed to the creation of pockets for weighting. To do this, bend the fabric and sew a straight line, as shown in the photo. If the pockets are a little wider than the branches is best. So it will be much easier to use them.
We suggest using a rather dense cotton fabric for stripes. Keep in mind that their length should be twice as much as the curtains themselves.
Alternately sew each ribbon to the top pocket of the curtains. After that, insert the first twig.
Set the curtain on the window, after which we insert the second twig into the lower pocket. If desired, you can slightly raise the curtain and fix it with ribbons, as it shown in the photo.
Despite the fact that to make such a curtain is quite simple, it looks really very beautiful. With its help, you can decorate the windows in the country or give a certain negligence laconic design of your room.
Blinds: DIY stylish decor
Even the most stylish curtains sometimes become boring and you want to change them to something else. In the case of roller blinds, everything is much simpler. They do not have to be changed, because you can simply decorate them with your own hands. Absolutely everyone can do this, since the process will not require special knowledge, skills and materials.
In the process, you will need:
- roller blind;
- the cloth;
- fabric glue;
- glue in spray;
- additional decor (optional);
To begin with, we measure the window opening and, based on the parameters, we adjust the length of the roller blinds. It is best to use a hacksaw and simple scissors.
Before proceeding to the next step, we recommend checking how well the fabric glue works. To do this, we glue the fabric on a small piece of curtain. If the parts are well fixed together, you can safely get to work.
Since the roller blind is often longer than the height of the window, it is not at all necessary to glue it all over with a cloth. It will be too heavy. Therefore, it is best to measure the height that will be needed with a small margin.
Put the curtain on the work surface and apply fabric in the center.
The most difficult task is to stick the fabric to the canvas as evenly as possible. To do this, we bend it from the bottom edge and apply glue in a thick layer. Immediately, apply the fabric back and smooth it out. Repeat the same until the parts are completely interconnected.
Turn the curtain over and apply glue to the bottom edge. Tuck the fabric a little and glue it to the canvas. For more reliable fixation, you can put a heavy object or a book on top for literally a couple of hours.
Cut off the excess fabric on the sides, but do not forget to leave allowances of 2-3 cm on the sides. Bend them and glue the curtains to the base with special adhesive. Leave it dry completely.
At this stage, you can finish, but we propose to use additional decor. In this case, you will need bright ribbons, but you can also buy a suitable fringe or even lace. Each option looks interesting in its own way.
Stylish, renewed curtain is ready! This option looks great not only as a complement to the interior, but also as the main bright accent.
Roller Blind with Your Own Hands
Of course, making a classic roller blinds with your own hands can be difficult, especially for beginners. Nevertheless, the result is worth it, so we recommend trying it no matter what.
- metal pipe;
- thick fabric;
- mount for curtains;
We measure the parameters of the window for which we will make the curtain. According to these data, we saw off a metal pipe of the required size.
Also cut off the necessary piece of fabric, taking into account the top and bottom allowances. Bend the edges and sew the pocket for the bar.
We connect the mount for the curtains with a metal stick, as in the photo.
Apply glue to the pipe stick to it the prepared canvas. If desired, you can fix the parts for better fixation. In this case, use thermal rollers.
Attach the finished roller blind to the window frame.
Blinds in the Interior
It is this type of curtains that can often be seen not only at home, but also in office buildings. The fact is that they are versatile and perfectly combined with any interior.
In addition, such products can be used not only as a main element, but also be combined with other curtains. For example, you can combine them with more dense or with light curtains.
Roller blinds are really appealing, convenient option for everyone. Therefore, we recommend to purchase them in a specialized store or make them yourself, using the available materials.
